Shopping online

Why shop online? Well now many shoppers are going online these days. Why? Well for one thing it saves you from going out in bad weather. It saves you on parking and you don't have to look for a parking place in a busy lot. Online shopping is convenient because you do it in the comfort of your own home. But many times we need credit cards to shop unless you go through something like pay pal or click banks . So when using your credit card you have to be careful. Never ever give out your credit card information in an email. It isn't safe to do that because outside parties can sometimes read them. Always use a credit card not a debit card if possible.
When you buy something, only give your information when you proceed to the check out.  Be careful shopping if the deals look to be too good to be true then it could be a scam. Check your bank statements often to make sure what is on it is what you ordered or spent.
Make sure your server is up to date, and when you are ready to buy something  in the url check to see if there is an S after http: HTTPS  that means it is secure. You may also see a closed padlock on the address bar or right corner of the window . I have also seen a green address bar saying a trustworthy site.
Another thing i would do is keep all my softward up to date, (automatic updates) and use a firewall, antivirus, anti spyware sofware you can find many of these free at download.com  A good free firewall is zone alarm you can find it at www.zonelabs.com  .
If you take precautions ,credit cards can be safer online than in restaurants for example. So be smart, be careful and shopping online can be fun.
Now I have a site where you can shop, You read my blogs and you have seen many of my products. I keep adding more as I go such as these products I did yesterday. You can find these and more at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*    Remember only give your card information when you proceed to check out  it will ask your information then.  One final note : I was told that we should change our passwords often and make sure we create strong passwords, something easy for us to remember but harder for others to guess and make a note of your passwords as you change them. I have a place (not online) that I keep all my usernames and passwords . These passwords that I mean are any sites you belong to that you need a user name and password.
I hope I have helped someone in some way . Shop online but shop wisely.
Have a great day

True Test of Courage

The true test of courage is to brave the elements, to fight the odds, and to hold on no matter what. This was surely the problems that faced young Ti-Boy Cormier in that memorable day in 1807. It was a mild winter, all things considered. Yet the ponds and river had frozen over. Many villagers where Ti-Boy came from paid little attention to the early thaw or that the ice-covered rivers and ponds were probably

Not safe. When a man fell into the ice that that day ,Ti-Boy was nearby . The man’s friends did not dare to go near the hole. They knew more weight would cause a cave in. While they rushed nearby to get help, Ti-Boy inched his way being very careful towards the drowning freezing man. He grabbed the hand that clawed desperately at the thin edge around the hole, Ti-Boy with no regard for his own safety held on to the man’s hand until help arrived. For this rescue I am sure Ti-Boy would have earned a medal of bravery. What makes this story more unusual is that you see

Ti-Boy was only 6 years old.

I hope you enjoyed this little story and will return for more of my blogs. In the meantime if you have a minute why don’t you stop by my store ,see what I have added lately. I have genealogy products, all kinds of tee shirts, all kinds of invitations, business cards, greeting cards, hats,Acadian, Cajun, Scottish ,Irish ,Native American and French products ,check out my iphone3 and iphone4 cases,St Patrick’s Day products and more at

Sharing a Memory

Today the weatherman says more snow coming ,could be as much as 25 cm, so as you must have guessed Allicor is in the nice cozy house, and trying to find many many reasons not to go out. grin. Talking about the weather reminds me of my grandaughter. When she was around 2years old ,she came to visit and her papa (grandfather)and papa was sick so she had to come with memere(me) to get something at the pharmacy. It was cold that day and I had her all bundled up and I was carrying her and as we were walking I started singing “Baby it’s cold outside”. All of a sudden she started singing in her own little way “Baby brrrrrr side”. Did I ever laugh. Ah memories are something to share and write down somewhere for others to see and laugh or cry one day. For the ones who has children or grandchildren you must know what I mean. Now I was reading about some children from Haiti being adopted in Canada and possible the USA and to the new parents of these children, you have a lot to write about then and now is the time to do so, write how your heart went out to them and you wanted to give them lots of love and a good life. Take a lot of photos of them, tape their voices, and write down how they adapted to their new lives. This will be so important to these children one day. If I would have been one of the people adopting a child, I would get as much information about their lives before I got them as I could, their real parents if I knew and keep a lot of records because everyone wants to know who they are ,where they are from, I have a half sister somewhere, And I believe I have found but before  this had gnawed  at me over and over. As the saying goes “enquiring minds want to know”. Now changing the subject, last night I worked again on my store and I have added some more postcards , one of Cornwall Ontario, it is an old photo, and a couple of Sudbury Ontario, some funny tee shirts ,and some items with an old King Edward Cent on them, the cent or penny was an old big brown one dated 1910. I have it on a postcard, and magnets, and badges too. I created a hat for all the Canadian Provinces ,these can be found in my Miscellaneous folder. I added a couple of things for Maine USA , and also Acadian and Cajun posters. So if you are in the vicinity of Allicor’s store at
http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* I do hope you will stop by even if it is only for window shopping. Have a great day Just a note, please check my products for the coming Saint Patrick's Day also, I have invites, tee shirts, badges or buttons, hats.
Have a great day

Cooking and Cookbooks

Today has been a wintery day where I live . As a matter of fact it has been bad in lots of places. Since it wasn't a good day to go out it was a good day for me to do some catching up. I have many blogs, and groups and pages ,my store, my website and seeing I have lots to do I have given myself more to do.grin.
Today I created a Page of Facebook. It is a cookbook page for everyone to add recipes. I created the following categories to start: Acadian Recipes,Cajun, Chinese,French Canadian,England and Wales,Irish,German,Native Americans,Italian,Scottish ,Desserts and Miscellaneous Recipes. As I go along I will add more catergories. The name of our cookbook which you can find on Facebook is called Our Kitchen's Best Cookbook. The title was suggested by Henry a friend of mine and others had suggested titles so we voted and this title won. I am hoping to have many fans. If you are interested in joining you go to the page and click the LIKE button, add the page to your favorites for easier access and to get to the recipes you need to click on discussions at the top of the page and go to the right board.
There are already a few recipes posted and remember I just created this page today, the fans are growing also. Many of us have recipes passed down from our mothers or grandmothers and these are great to share with everyone. Think about it ! Your grandmother's recipes being posted on the internet and being seen and tried by people across the oceans. Wouldn't your grandmother be surprised if she only knew this? I have quite a few recipes that I shall add as soon as I can find some free time. I have added a few already. I do hope that you will become a fan of  Our Kitchen's Best Cookbook on Facebook and share with us and also try some of the recipes. The images I have added in this blog are from my store where I have some kitchen related stuff, I have aprons, I have fridge magnets, I have posters and even a recipe calendar at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*
Hope to see you in our Cookbook page, have a great day
