Brrrr gonna be cold outside

Hello everyone. Today I just want to chit chat and talk about whatever comes to my mind. The weather is changing, getting cooler at nights. Following cooler nights, we begin getting frost on our cars, next comes that fluffy white stuff. Yep ,Snow. To some of you it is a great time, time for sports, skating, skiing, skidoos. But to some of us seniors comes shovelling that pretty fully white stuff. Ouch!  Then our arthritis acts up, then comes slip sliding on the ice. Oh winter is so much fun for us seniors. grin. Then the  men needs their wooly longjohns. Do you remember your father or grandfather wearing those red flannel longjohns with a flap in the back. (must have been drafty eh?) grin. I remember my father wearing them. Maybe they looked funny but at least they were warm. If us women would not be so vain we would also dress warm. grin. And warmth is so very important for us seniors. Speaking of winter if you want to have a good laugh and have not read the Diary of a Snowshoveller, google it and read it. I laugh everytime I read it or try to read it to others., Next comes the holdiays, and with the new year comes the times for calendars for that new year. So I have created a few of them, possibly going to create more. If you are interested go to http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* click on calendars. Calendars also make nice Christmas gifts.  You can also view my same calendars at
http://www.allicorshop.acadian-roots.com  , oops that reminds me I must go add my Nova Scotia Churches calendar there.  A note to add also, there are man  great stores out there, and soon I hope to be talking about some of them.

What we should not forget

I have been talking about Christmas in my previous blogs and that is a good thing, but there was something that I honestly should have mentioned. Why do we celebrate Christmas? Is it because of the presents? Is it because of  the family and friends? Is it for the turkey dinner?  Well maybe to some the answer is Yes, but to most of us the real answer should be No. I remember when I was young and I used to love going to the midnight mass in church, and it was and is being held to celebrate to birth of Jesus. Mangers are set up in or outside of the churches, we have little mangers set up in our homes for the holidays. So the true meaning of Christmas is the celebrating of the birth of our savior. We hear this in songs Like Silent Night, We three Kings,
It came upon a midnight clear, even the little drummer boy. So during our Holiday Season let us take a moment to remember the true meaning of Christmas.
I created this t-shirt this morning, and you can purchase it for men, ladies, and children, in the style you want. This would be nice to wear during the Christmas Season , maybe to your church parties, and also great to give as a gift.
The url to my gallery is http://www.zazzle.com/allicor* I added this t-shirt in my t-shirt folder.

Meteghan Nova Scotia

Meteghan is a fishing village in Nova Scotia. It was founded by some acadians in the late 1790 or early 1800s . Among the founders were Joseph LeBlanc and Prudent Robichaud and other Acadians.  The first church built was in 1817 the St Mande, later changed to St Martin.  A new church was built in 1885 the first Stella Maris church burned in 1943. From then on until the new church was built the parish hall served as the church until 1967 and the new Stella Maris church was blessed in 1972. I looked in the 1901 census for Meteghan and among the surnames I found some Amirault,Arsenault,Babin,Belliveau,Boudreau,Comeau,Bourque,Burke,Deon,Deveau,Doucet,Gaudet,Hill,Jeddry
LeBlanc, Maillet, Melanson, Poirier, Robichaud,Saulnier,Theriot,Surette,Thibodeau and more. So as you can see this little village was home to many of our Acadian Ancestors.  If you are interested in products with this image go to my church folder at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*   , I will post more churches soon.

Getting Ready

Hello everyone, well today I would like to talk about the holidays again. How many of you remember past Christmases? I bet there are lots of great memories and maybe a few sad ones too. My christmases when I was a little girl, I remember my father coming home with tree, he must have cut it down himself back then. It was usually a big tree. I remember Mom had these hugs bulbs of different colors and she had large bells too. She had these big icicles she would add on and she gave me one of them which I still have today and I put it on my tree. I remember one time we lived in a two story house and where the stovepipe ran, there was a hole big enough from upstairs where we slept to be able to look downstairs and on christmas eve I remember looking down to see if I could see Santa. But he was a smart one, he made sure I did not see him. grin. On Christmas morning ,the first thing we did was head for our stockings. Mine was a long brown stocking and it was filled with oranges, apples, barley toys, candy ribbon and nuts. I liked the walnuts and Brazil nuts. Then we opened our gifts. We didn't have lots of them, I came from a family of 7 and Mom always had some extra children she would take care of. So we had one big present and a few small ones, and my grandmother used to give each one of us a present she would begin shopping right after Christmas for the following one, and even if I got a pair of stockings or a hankerchief it was important to me, and do you know that when my grandmother passed away I missed her giving me a gift!.  When I grew up and got married, Christmas was still important to me. I would decorate my house from top to bottom  the ceilings, the windows and years ago we had tons of Christmas Cards, back then it cost 1 cent to mail a card, so we would get 100s of cards and I remember putting them all around my door frames ,window frames and it looked very nice. It is a shame that it cost so much to mail cards now days. A suggestions that we could all do is put the Christmas Cards into the gifts or deliver the local ones and slip them in the mailboxes. I am not saying this to discourage mailing because now we are creating some gorgeous postage stamps, and they are USA Postage Stamps. And a sheet of these to send to close friends and family would be a great idea. My point was that it was cheaper to mail back then but we have to move on with the times. I created quite a few postage stamps, many to match carts or postcards and there are beautiful postage stamps among other store owners . I will be happy when we are quite a few followers here so that I can talk about other stores along with my blog. I hope I am getting some of you in the pre holiday mood, right after Halloween our stores will be decorating for Christmas the outdoor lights will be going on the houses. So now is not too early to start getting ready, if you have your Christmas or Post Cards ordered and received then you can even start addressing them. Everyone needs tags and stickers too, I know we can get a lot of this at the dollar stores but  it is nice giving something that everyone doesn't have the same kind!
So if you are window shopping please come see my gallery, if you don't feel like going to my main gallery, see what i have added on my website, http://www.allicorshop.acadian-roots.com/   but just a note to say you will find a lot on my website but even MORE in my gallery http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*  , To all you store owners out there it doesn't only have to be zazzle it can be other stores , come follow me. Your stores could be included later in my blogs.
And to all you readers come follow me, it is free , and all you will see will be my blogs.
Anyway thanks for listening do stop by again

About Cats

To some people their favorite pets are cats. Cats comes in all sorts, you have persian cats, angora cats, siamese cats, calico cats and just plain mixed breed cats.
They are a great pet for seniors living alone or for families. You can go out and leave your cat without worrying because they are a clean animal, they use a litter box .
I will share a couple of little stories about cats. My Mom had a cat that everytime it got pregnant and was ready to give birth, she would go and wake Mom up, so Mom would sit with her until she had the babies. Mom also told me that I believe it is the same cat, used to go mice hunting and they lived in the country and Mom said when she would open the door the cat had all these dead mice lined up on the porch as if to say "See what I caught?" , Now I lived in the country for a short while and  where I lived there was around 33 cats all wild but we fed them, and I would look out the window and I would see the mother cat walking across the road into the field with her four little kittens walking in a row behind her and then I would see her come back carrying a mouse and her little kittens still following her. Guess Momma Cat was showing her babies how to hunt.Another story I have already share with some of you , there was this cat that we called Black Cat, and everytime she had babies we could never find where they were. She was getting old this time and not as careful. I watched her one time and noticed she was going way up the road. So the next time she went out I walked up the road with her she crossed into a bunch of bushes ,I went too. Then she dissappeared, I gently opened the bushes and there she was with three little baby kittens, I picked up the kittens and brought them all the way home, set them in a cardboard box and I went back and she was waiting for me, I picked her up and all the while I was walking home she kept purring. I think she was trying to say "AHHHH thank you for the help!".  I hope you liked my stories, and I have just created my Cat Calendar 2011. You can view the calender by clicking on the link or just going to
http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*   Now is the time to order your calendars. They also make a great gift if you don't know what to give.
Have a great day,

Posterous | Experimenting

Hello everyone, well today I have tried adding this blog to Facebook, but only to my ALLICOR'S BOUTIQUE page but I think I shall return and  change it to my wall post because I have more friends there than in my page at the moment. I have been working on Christmas Products ,it is not too early, so to all you creators or designers start designing you products now. The sooner we have our products up the  better chance of others seeing our work.  I have created the following card, I hope I will not have all the codes on it as before  if so I will not be adding the products that way. Here is a cute card to send to grandparents ,parents, children, family, friends,or relatives. You can add their names on the bottom or add Grandmother, Mom, Dad ,or anything you want to.  Today's blog is just a test  to be able to see how it works and how it looks and if I should make changes.

Posterous | Canada Geese

Canada Geese are wild geese. Their head and necks are black with white spots on the face, their bodies are brown and grey. They breed in Canada and in the USA. They once were thought to be extinct but some were found in Minnesota USA. Now you find Canada Geese all over, Canada,USA, United Kingdom and Europe. When the geese reach the age of two they find a mate and usually they spend the rest of their lives together. The Canada Geese are found in many places, gold courses, and in fields like the one in the image on the stein. Some were even said to be hanging out in our Cemetery and to many folks Canada Geese can be a nuisance with their noises and their droppings which sometimes contain bacterias.
The Canada Geese usually migrate from September to mid November and they all gather at a starting place and if you look at the sky you will see they form a V shape in the sky and the first goose usually changes places with another one during their flight.  Now I have been wanting to take this image of them for a long time. They are all in our University Fields and  every time I go by, I think oh how I would love to take their photos to create something on my gallery. You will also notice in the image there are seagulls among the geese. For this stein which you can convert into mugs and other products please go to http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*   ,so far I have made a mousepad and this Stein . But I am on my way to create more products. So do stop by again. Remember soon I will be posting a few products from other store creaters.

Posterous | One of those days

Have you ever had one of those days when you cannot get a certain topic or song or idea out of your head? Well today is one of them. I know Christmas is not for a few months,
but here we are near the end of September  so we are actually close to three months to it. Anyway today I was trying to think if ideas on what to create for my gallery. All I kept

day. I also have joined Flickr, haven't got a clue what I am doing there as yet, I joined and I have added some of my products there ,will probably add more. So if any of you are on Flickr  search for Allicor and either add me as a contact or as a friends ok? I will do the same with you. I keep going to check my blogs and I am checking to see if anyone is following me. The faster I have followers especially at http://mrsallicor.blogspot.com   the faster I can start adding some of your products. Posterous | Acadian Dish

Why did I say Acadian gifts? Well first of all I have created a mug or stein with Acadian Dishes . The Poutine was originally a dutch meal and they brought over the recipe and the Acadians began making them, and Rappure or Rappie Pie was probably derived from the poutine recipe seeing as for both dishes you need to grate your potatoes. If someone for example came from The Maritime Provinces and moved away, what a great gift to give them. Christmas will soon be upon us and birthdays are always happening  . I personally believe it is not too early to order for the holidays to make sure the parcel arrives at its destination in plenty of time

Posterous | Holidays are coming soon

Hello everyone, well as you can see by some of my blogs, I have a lot to learn,I am dissappointed with all the html that shows on my blogs so I am trying a different approach.
As you all know once the children go back to school, there are lots of holidays and events on the way. Today I want to talk about Christmas. I know in the USA that Thanksgving is just as big if not bigger than Christmas but in Canada Christmas is the biggest event. As many believe Christmas is the birthday of Jesus and it is the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas Season is the time for family reunions, shopping, preparing their traditional meals and baking. It is the time for opening our hearts and thinking of the poor, the homeless the needy and also the abandoned or lonely seniors out there. An elderly lady in a home would welcome a little trinket or a card or most of all a Merry Christmas to you. A little child would appreaciate a little toy from the dollar store and the homeless sure could use a hot meal or a coat or mittens .Yes Christmas seems to open our hearts to others. And now is the time to purchase gifts for love ones ,friends or relatives or even the poor and needy. Sometimes an order can take a while to deliver and then you need to prepare to deliver it to that special someone in time for Christmas. If you are around please stop by my gallery or website and see what I have. http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*   and http://www.allicorshop.acadian-roots.com        Next I will try to add a mug and I sure

hope it doesn't have all the html on it. Here goes

Yes it seemed to work just find until next time

Posterous | THANKSGIVING DAY

Soon we will be into various holidays including Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on different days for the USA and for Canada. I know that in the USA it is a very big celebration .
In Canada this year Thanksgving Day will be celebrated October 11 and it is to give thanks at the end of the harvest. USA celebrates their Thanksgiving on November 25 this year and it is to thank God for the good fortunes. But it is said in the USA it stems from the Pilgrims and the Americans have been celebrating since 1863.  Now is the time to prepare for either the Canadian or American Thanksgiving Day. The above is a nice shirt that can be purchased for men, women and children to wear on Thanksgiving Day.
And to my zazzle friends now is the time to start creating and advertising in order for everyone to have time to receive their products. I hope you like today's blog and be sure they will get better and better, just subcribe or follow me.

Making this blog grow

As more followers come, I am hoping to maybe do interview here or add your stores ,I will be joining sketchart's group as soon as this blog gets on the road to being busy. I had started another blog not sure if you had joined it, I will keep blogging there but in order to have all my blogs connected to various sites I needed to created a new google account. When I blog now, I do one blog and it goes to various other blogs, which is great for advertising, that is how we get our products known to more people.
Well yesterday I finally finished my calendar, which was very time consuming, finding the images and finding the recipes. So now I have six calendars to choose from. Next I am focussing on some coming events or holidays, I am not too familiar with the labels yet, I created two, and I noticed some zazzlers are making christmas tags with theirs, am not sure if I can master that but will take a day when I can focus on the labels and try.
Now what do you think would sell more for Christmas? I believe our mugs, our greeting cards, hats, tee shirts, could be popular, so we should come up with something different for Christmas.
If your shoe sales are not plentiful don't worry someone out there probably hasn't seen the ones they want yet.
I am hoping that more followers will come until next time

Automobiles and Me

Hello everyone, well today I would like to talk about cars among other things. Have you ever heard of an Overland car? Or a Model A Car? My brother in law had an old Model A Ford way back when I was a young girl, I remember it looked like the one I have added except it was black. As for the Overland I have heard my late husband talk about it. He also had an old studebaker and an oldsmobile. I see these antique car shows and some of the cars are so beautiful. The old convertibles of the 60s, white and blue. Those were the days. Speaking of cars I must share this story with you. I got my driver's license in my later years and we had a Hyindai Pony, they had just came out, and I was not too experienced with driving in the winter and my Mom wanted to go see her aunt in the country ,I asked my husband to drive us. He replied "No ,you now have your driver's license you drive". So off we went  just Mom and I. When we arrived at my great aunt's home, she had one of those round drive ways and I turned to go in the driveway and it was very very icy, guess where we landed? In the ditch, and I looked over at Mom she was really far down and I was way up. We manage to get out of the car, now there was no way I was going to tell my husband that the first time I took the car to the country in the winter I landed in the ditch, so my great aunt called a tow truck and he got me out of the ditch. No damage to the car.Whew! And would you believe I never told my husband until many years later? grin.
Ok now why did I blog about cars? Well today I created the business card above and I like it and this card can be used for anyone who has any car business or any business you see fitting. All you have to do is fill in all the blanks with your own business information. You can view more of my business cards at

Well I know I can blog about babies and I am sure no one would be bored at least I hope not. Babies are what makes families a lot of the time. They bring parents close together. There is a bond between the parents and with the child.
A baby needs lots of love and care. You just don't have them and that is it, you need to feed it, change it, care for it when it is sick. I remember walking the floor with my son and rocking him and singing to him. Babies learn from their parents. I remember when my baby took his first steps, what a great feeling  to see this, and  when a baby looks at a mother or a father you see the love in their eyes and their lovely smile.  There is a lot of preparations before a baby is born, you need to get his or her room ready, you need a crib, and  bottles and clothes, and  diapers lots and lots of diapers, grin. So  usually the mother to be has a baby shower where her friends or parents invite all her friends and theirs too ,to attend. They bring lots of gifts for the new baby like hair brush, bottles, cute little outfits, but in order to invite the guest to the baby shower you need invitation cards to send out, which brings me to the photo above, this is a baby shower invitation , I just sold 50 today and I wanted to share this with you along with a Baby Blog. If you are looking for baby shower or any shower or party invitations check out my sites

Until next blog which could be soon

The weather,animals and me

Today the weather is overcast ,we are expecting rain and thundershowers. I don't mind the rain but the thunder and lightning I can take it or leave it. We had a dog who's name was Thunder he was a corgi and when he heard Thunder you could not catch him, he was so afraid that he would run and hide. We had to find a new home for him due to illness and we went to visit him a few weeks ago, well our Thunder is very well placed he is the king of the castle, and the alpha dog to another corgi, which the family named Lightning, so Thunder is with Lightning. It is a good feeling to know that he is going to be just fine.
So it is going to rain, and if we have a little wind, the leaves will soon begin to fall. So with the leaves falling comes cool weather, and later down the road comes the holidays. Christmas is usually a happy time for many and many shop early for their gifts if they give some or greeting cards. I am hoping you will check out my christmas gifts, I have mugs, and am in the middle of creating more, a calendar would make a great Christmas gift. I have christmas cards, postcard, invitations, so if you are in the vicinity stop by my zazzle.com/allicor store and have a look. I am adding a photo here not sure which one it is but I had it title Christmas so I hope it is one of my better products.grin.
Thanks for the visit hope you will follow my blogs or subcribe.

Hello and welcome

This is my first post on this blog, I had to change my blog site in order to have other related information at one stop. I hope you will keep coming, I do know I move around a lot, but I think I will stay here. As my title says this blog will be about my store but also other stories about diffrent things and also maybe about other store owners . There are so many great artists and talented people out there and some are never noticed. I believe by sharing  with one another maybe this will all change. In all this helping others , I am also hoping that my gallery will reach many more people who may take a liking to my products. My products are created on a spurt of the moment. Stay tuned for my next blog.
