It's isn't over yet

What isn't over you might ask? Well we had Christmas, we have Boxing Day, next come New Years Eve. Our Christmas went quite well. Had my family over for dinner and then we all went to the hospital to spend some time with my Mom who recently took a stroke. Now if you had known my Mom, you would also know that Christmas is one of her favorite holidays, to her Christmas means getting together with her family. She has been talking about Christmas way before she took her stroke. She even had me create some postcards with the image of her first valentine she received from her teacher when she was six years old. And it is amazing how well the valentine card is preserved. She wanted to give each one of her children a postcard since she could not divide the valentine among her seven children, I made 16 of them for her but a problem arose. She received the postcards and put them away. We cannot find them so far but they are at her home somewhere. When we find them , they will be given to my brothers ,sisters, myself and a few others. And when she was in the hospital she wanted to be home for one hour at least on Christmas day, but since that was impossible, we all went to see her. She was very pleased but she got tired. We took a lot of photos. Mom is one who always loved to have photos and to take photos so she was all for it. I brought her a copy of one her and all her children to the hospital. She was happy to see many  of her grandchildren and great grandchildren arrive there on Christmas Day too.
Mom is 92 years old and her memory is awesome. She remembers when she was little, I cannot remember if I had breakfast or not. grin. So I guess I must not take after my Mom. They had her in a ward with three other ladies and those ladies also had strokes but their minds seemed to be gone and they yelled all night long, Mom could not sleep so now they have moved Mom to another room and last night she had a great sleep.
Today we are having a snowstorm, so the malls and everything will be closed, and it is Boxing Day so I imagine it will be very busy in the Malls tomorrow. Speaking of Boxing Day my store and other stores are having a sale, 50 percent off cards, invitations, photo cards, and 25 % off of iphone and iPad cases, plus 15 % off tee shirts and mugs .Now is the time to order while the sale last, the sale ends December 30th, if you find something at my store at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*  when you get to the check out  use Code ZAZZLEACSALE .I hope you will take advantage of this sale, birthdays ,valentines, showers, are all somewhere in the near future. Now is the time to save.
After boxing day comes New Years Eve, there will be lots of celebrations going on everywhere, some house parties, some going to a club or a dance ,others staying at home watching the New Year come in on the Television. I like to watch the New Year Come in at Halifax, they have a big celebration with various bands outdoors ,let's hope it won't be too cold this year.
And with all these celebrations comes drinking, and I would just like to caution everyone, if you drink don't drive, and if you don't drink but drive be careful of the other cars. Some folks may think they are ok to drive but in reality they are not , so be very careful. Taking a taxi or having a designator driver is a wonderful idea, call the police to drive you home, or rednose. If you are having a party have your guest stay over if they are drinking.  So stay safe, and have a very Happy New Years.
hugs

Excitement is growing

Well Christmas Day will soon be here. All the houses are decorated with lights of all colors from gold to silver to reds and blues, the trees showing so beautiful in the windows.
The stores are so very busy at this time of the year, it is hard to get out at the checkouts but that doesn't stop the happy smiles and the greetings along the way from friends.and family. It is also time for Christmas baking,to have it done early enough.
This year I am not into Christmas as much as other years, but I do want my son and his little family to have a wonderful christmas . They will be coming over for dinner, I am happy with that. And then we will go to the hospital to spend some time with my Mom. Today I went in to see her as I do every morning, and this morning I arrived finding her in very good spirits and she had been waiting for my sister to arrive from the US and when my brother woke her up, she opened her eyes and there she saw my sister, what a wonderful surprise for her. So Mom was even laughing today, and that really made me feel good.
We have permission to use the family room for a few hours on Christmas Day, and that is where we will be seeing Mom, away from a dreary room, into a nice family room. I am taking some Christmas songs along with me that day, maybe some of my family ,or nieces and nephews will sing for her, now that would be something great. We are suppose to meet around 3 pm, that way it gives everyone time to do their thing at home and be together later. If a lot of my family shows up on Christmas Day at the hospital, that will make my Mom's Day (because Christmas has always been special to her) and it also will make my day. So to everyone who has prayed and is praying for Mom, keep the prayers coming, they are doing wonders. Merry Christmas everyone
Hugs

Tis the Season

Hello everyone, as you all noticed I haven't posted in a while, my Mom is still in the hospital ,she suffered a stroke and at the moment it is very hard to concentrate on much. My family and I want to be with her as much as we can, so it is off to the hospital and home again, and my friend also is having problems with his leg he has a bad heart and his legs are leaking fluid, so as you can see I am kept quite busy.
Sometimes a person has to do something to change their minds during these times, so when I get home, I come online, and I have some genealogy projects I am trying to get done so I do that for a while, right now I am at a standstill, if I had ancestry I would be searching a lot more and then I do some creating for my store, not many at a time, just a few and I am pleased when I come and check my email and I have a sale, today I sold a mousepad, it's not much but it is a sale. This gives me reason to create more products. Now a week from today is Christmas, my Mom will probably be in the hospital it will be the first time ever she is in the hospital for Christmas, so I will be making christmas dinner earlier for my family and then we are all meeting my family, my siblings and myself at the hospital for Christmas afternoon, we have a room reserved where we will all gather and my brother will wheel my Mom to. She will be happy and I am sure there will be lots of tears of joy when she sees how much we love her. So I would like to take this time to wish each and everyone of you followers and new readers a very Happy Christmas, and the best in 2011. Stay safe, drive careful , see you in the New Year

Just a hello

Hello everyone, well I haven't blogged in a while due to my Mom having a stroke, today they put in a feeding tube, and hopefully that will make things easier for her in the future, If any of you have love ones or have been affected with a stroke then you know what we are going through, never in all the world did we expect our Mom to fall victim, one day she is up ,walking ,and in no time at all she suffers a stroke, we are hoping to keep her moral up, to encourage her, to show her we love her and we are behing her one hundred percent. I have been reading articles to familiarize myself with this illness.
Yesterday I read that laughter is a good medecin and so I started scouring the internet for a joke that Mom would like, and if you read the joke about Little Johnny wanting a bicycle well that is the one I read to Mom and I noticed  a smile on her face, the first one that I ever noticed since her stroke. Can you imagine how good I felt. When I got home I started looking for more jokes but I am screening them and not going to bug her with them but once in a while I think it is great for her. So for the ones who are praying for my Mom keep the prayers going if you need her name it is Florence, God will know who she is.
Now I have sort of neglected my store, when I get home I honestly am all drained out and I have a friend at home who is not well either so  at times I don't feel like creating, but I think that I should smarten up and create some products in order to keep busy . I have sold some products lately for Christmas, likes ties, mugs, cards, hoodies and tee shirts so you still have time to order  and have it shipped for Christmas, and I have a large assortment ,iphone cases, mugs, shirts, hoodies, hats ,dog outfits, children clothers ,even shoes, if you are wondering what to get someone for Christmas check out my store at http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*
Christmas is just around the corner, my tree is up, have a few more gifts to buy, and we are all planning on being with Mom on Christmas Day ,we will set a time and all meet there, that will make Mom very happy because her family is her life and she is our.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, please drive safely

Talking about Strokes

Hello everyone, today I would like to blog about an illness that strikes so many families without warning. This is a stroke and it can hit you or me just as it strikes so many others. Why am I talking about strokes? Well my Mom just took a stroke a few days ago. What is a stroke? It is an injury to part of the brain and happens when something goes wrong with the flow of the blood to the brain. When an artery carrying blood to the brain is blocked then it stops the blood supply going to the brain. Different parts of your brain controls different body functions like talking , swallowing, moving your arms and legs.so when part of the brain is damaged it cannot send a message to that certain part of your body. There are two types of strokes  blood clot strokes or bleeding strokes. I am not sure which one of these Mom took yet. The warning signs of a stroke are  weakness, numbness is the face arms or legs, trouble speaking, vision problems, headaches or dizzyness, If you or someone you know have some of these symptom call 911 . Now my mom has the following: It is called TIA (transient ischemic attack)also known as a mini stroke. Most of these strokes last  for a short time can be 30 seconds to 10 minutes and some can last 24 hours. Most of these mini strokes leave no permanent damage. But it is important to seek help if you are having one.The proper medical treatment can reduce your chance of having another one. My mom was in the hospital having gall bladder stones removed ,she was ready to go home the day before her stroke, then around 1 am she took her mini stroke. It affected her left side which means she took the stroke on her right side. It affected her speech and the therapist will be working with her beginning tomorrow and she could not swallow and today she thinks she can swallow so tomorrow we may know. She can walk, she can write, so that is a blessing. I was amazed at how many stroke victims there was on her floor. My family and I each got a book explaning what happened, what the future holds (which is rehabilitation) helping Mom with her speech and giving her all our love and support. A stroke changes the lives of both the patient and the caregivers and there is a lot of help out there, there are social workers, nurses, dieticians, doctors  all there to help the patient and family along the way. OH and when I first got the book about strokes, I thought OH I cannot show this to MOM. But as I read the book it also talks to the patient and explains what happened to them and why? And what was going to be done to help them, and do you know that it is a good idea? I circled the part about the mini stroke and brought the book back to Mom and she is reading it, I told her now everything isn't  only for you there are some things that does not affect you. Now she has an idea and I think she is less afraid. Oh she must be afraid but this tells her the truth. And it is so very important support a stroke victim, talk to them, today I talked to my Mom about what's happening at my home, what's new with my sister and so on, just to let her know that this stroke doesn't change the way we talk and discuss things. So if you are a caregiver give your love one all the support you can, and if you are a patient, remember you are not alone, there are so many out there like you. Go with your caregiver or patient to a Stroke support group ,there you will see how others are coping and know that you are not alone.
Please keep my Mom in your prayers,
Have a great day

Time to say hello again

It  has been a few days since I blogged so I imagine I am being missed a little. Been busy these last few days. My Mom is in the hospital, so I have been going to visit her.
And I put up my tree, it is not a big tree and my decorations were old things that I had but the results turned out pretty good. I set up my manger and took out a dancing and
singing Santa that belonged to my late Dad, it was a gift we had bought him, before my husband passed away.
So next comes the gift wrapping and the final gifts to buy.
Now my store has been doing pretty good these last few days, we had sales every two hours and it was different things each time. I am not sure if we will be having these two hour
sales again but it was the time to stock up on deals.  I want to share some of my latest stuff with you, if you like what you see you can go to http://www.zazzle.com/allicor*  .
I will come and blog again as soon as I can, and hopefully next time I will have more to say. So enjoy my products and have a great day.
I also want to wish each one of you and your families a very Merry Christmas and stay safe and well.
